Getting here

The Isle of Arran is easily accessible, being only about two hours from Glasgow, one hour by road or rail and one hour by ferry.

From the east or south we recommend driving from the M74 through East Kilbride, joining the M77 and turning off through Kilmarnock, heading for Irvine and Ardrossan, which is all dual carriageway or motorway. From the North and West we would recommend joining the M8 through Glasgow and heading for Beith, Dalry and Ardrossan.

By rail, there is a service from Glasgow Central direct to Ardrossan harbour that runs in conjunction with the Caledonian MacBrayne ferries. The train stops at Paisley Gilmour Street Station, which can be joined from Glasgow International airport by the shuttle bus or by taxi.
For cars, reservations are desirable and can be made through the Caledonian MacBrayne website, which also gives up-to-date timetable information.

There is a second, smaller car ferry from Lochranza on the Isle of Arran to Clonaig on the Kintyre peninsula, which gives excellent access to and from the Western Highlands.
